Electric Dryer - White We bought the Samsung DV218AEW dryer from Lowe's in March 2009. The heating element first burned out on us only 17 months after we had purchased the product, which of course was out of warranty. We contacted Samsung to locate a local repair shop who came out and replaced the heating element for 0. We have been diligent about cleaning our ducts and getting rid of lint, but the stupid heating element crapped out again tonight. We've owned the dryer less than 3 years and have now had the heating element burn out twice. A quick Google search shows that we are certainly not the only ones. Ft. Electric Dryer - White We purchased our Samsung Dryer (DV218AE) 3.5 years ago, and it has been fraught with problems. At the 2 year mark, the sensor dry went out, and the clothes would never stop drying. At this point, we could only use timed dry. Then at the 3 year 6 month mark, it began making horrendous noises. Upon inspection, the drum was coming apart. The seam was splitting! We called our local repair shop and asked what it would take to fix it, and the guy said he won't even touch Samsung. He said they are a piece of junk, not worth repairing, parts are way too expensive - better off buying a new one. My suggestion - don't buy Samsung!!  12 Months and going strong, By M. After 12 months I haven't had any issues and we wash and dry almost everyday (tengo bebe!). All in all the dryer is great value and I am in the process of buying a 2nd one for our 2nd condo. We also rent out our condos so having something reliable was essential. |
