 Burns out too fast, Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Frigidaire 5300622034 Electric Dryer Heater Restring Coil Me and my wife bought a Frigidaire front load washer / dryer set a few years back and loved it until the first time the heating element went out. After having a repairman come out to our house at a visit he told us the heating element went out and made the mistake of showing us what it looked like. We went to Amazon and ordered this and I installed it. The dryer worked fine for a few more months until the element went out again. Since then we've had to replace the heating element about every 5 or 6 months. We're not doing laundry every day. Maybe mon, wed and Sat but we are drying 2 or 3 loads each time. The heating element, we think, is just a poor quality because it shouldn't burn out that soon.The last heating element we bought back in Jan or sometime ago burned out last week so I had to order a new one this weekend. We're now looking into replacing the entire set because I'm tired of replacing this one little part every 6 months. Just find your parts on line, purchase them on Amazon, and fix it in just a few hours. I replaced the squeaky bearing and the felt (between drum and housing) in 2-3 hours. I also cleaned out all the accumulated lint and removed all the old glue left over from the old felt (used paint thinner). I had a "new" dryer for around . Not bad. My wife was proud of me. The heating element went out about three weeks later - replaced it in about an hour after ordering the element on line. The replacement heater coil was a great way to go as long as your heater box is in good shape. The restringing was pretty simple compared to the job of getting to the heating element (I had to pull off the top and front of the dryer and pull out the drum to get to the heat box. |
