The item out of the box had several flaws, minor ones, but flaws and several of the screw holes seemed like they had been screwed into already. There was damage to the seating back, where it had been scraped by something with white paint. This was the main indication that this item had been repackaged. I like the nook, but I didn't receive a new item, and the blemishes on the item say it had been at least partially assembled. We have left messages with the company and no one has gotten back to us. So much for customer service. It was a litle difficult to get this corner bench together (definitely a 2 person job), but the instructions were just right and the microfiber padding looks very classy - much nicer than a plain wooden bench would.
